The Amsterdam Art Fund asked 10 artists to develop prototypes for a green public space.
They were projects in which the experience of art and nature would enhance each other. 'My choice was to create a shiny blue fabric from plastic oil hoses, which 'riveted' itself to the branches of a tree. The sculpture has lodged into the tree like a parasite and in this way it has created a new entity in collaboration with the original situation. A new 'natural' situation is the result of this, which to me is a very intriguing idea.' 'I am uncovering disorderly and disturbing growth processes, while at the same time I am looking for the naturalness of the new situation.' |
